Jaminelli Banks, DPM, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon. She serves patients at Ledesma Foot and Ankle in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dr Banks utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach to treat patients to reduce their pain, improve their quality of life, and increase their activity levels. She specializes in the repair of foot and ankle injuries, as well as the reconstruction of deformities such as bunions, hammertoes, flatfeet, and high-arched feet. Dr Banks earned her Bachelor of Science in pre-med/biology, graduating summa cum laude from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She then worked at the National Cancer Institute at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr Banks continued her education, earning her podiatric medicine degree at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While in Philadelphia, she worked at the Gait Lab studying foot and ankle pathologies and assisted in developing athletic tennis shoes for Stride Rite for Kids. After graduating, she completed a combined seven-year surgical and research fellowship at the Carl T Hayden Phoenix VA Medical Center in Arizona. During this time, Dr Banks helped develop protocols for clinical trials and studied wound healing products with the goal of amputation prevention. She spent another year-long surgical fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Department of Plastic Surgery in Dallas, where she performed surgery on over 1000 patients in one year. Dr Banks received additional training in diabetic limb salvage and advanced wound reconstruction. She is also an adjunct professor at Midwestern University School of Medicine in Downers Grove, Illinois, and continues her work in clinical research. In her spare time, Dr Banks enjoys spending time with her family, staying active, and traveling.

Christopher K Bromley, DPM, FACFAS

Christopher Bromley, DPM, FACFAS currently practices foot and ankle surgery in Delray Beach, Florida. Dr Bromley's specialty within the group is Surgery, Sports Medicine, and Homeopathy. Dr Bromley has been passionate about nutrition and complementary medicine since entering private practice. He completed his surgical residency in 1992 in Baltimore, MD. His training included such prestigious hospitals as the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins. Windy Cole, DPM, CWSP, FFPM RCPS (Glasg) is a native Ohioan. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Cincinnati where she graduated summa cum laude. She is also an honor graduate from the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr Cole has practiced in Northeast Ohio for over 22 years. She is an adjunct professor and Director of Wound Care Research at Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine. She is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and the American Board of Wound Management. She has been a dedicated wound care advocate for two decades with interests focused on medical education, diabetic foot care, wound care, limb salvage, & clinical research. Her passion to help others has led her participate in humanitarian efforts including a medical mission to Jordan in 2018 to aid the large Syrian refugee population seeking asylum from civil war. Dr. Cole has published numerous peer-reviewed and industry articles on these topics and is a sought-after speaker both nationally and internationally. She is a feature writer for Podiatry Management and Today’s Wound Clinic as well as a contributing writer for Podiatry Today. She is an Editorial Board member of Wound Management and Prevention, Podiatry Today, The Foot Journal, Wound Masterclass, Podiatry Management and Lower Extremity Review. She is also the Podiatry Section Editor for the ePlasty Journal and a Guest Editor for Foot and Ankle Quarterly. She is a wound care advocate on the forefront of wound research and was the 2020 World Union of Wound Healing Silver Medal Award recipient for her work in Technology-driven Research and the 2022 recipient of the Kaplan-Kanat Memorial Lecture Award. Dr. Cole is a member of the ACCWS BOD. Additionally, she sits on the advisory board of multiple emerging biotech companies and has been integral in collaborating on innovative research protocols in the space.

Donald Curtis, DPM , FACFAS is a native of Salt Lake City, Utah and received his undergraduate degree in Behavioral Science & Health at the University of Utah. He went on to complete his medical training at the William M Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. Dr Curtis then continued his training at the Carl T Hayden VA Medical Center, in Phoenix, Arizona, completing a three-year surgical residency program. Dr Curtis joined Midwestern University in March of 2012, after eight years of private practice. He is course director for Advanced Pathomechanics, Podiatric Medicine II and Podiatric Emergency Medicine and Trauma. Dr Curtis is board certified in Foot Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He also remains an attending at the Carl T Hayden VA Medical Center, working with and helping train the podiatric surgical residents. Dr Curtis is involved with a variety of research activities here on campus ranging from tendon function, wound care and diabetic peripheral neuropathy. In the past, he has been involved with research in infectious disease and inter-professional education as well as being a contributing author to a textbook on Diagnostic Ultrasound of the Foot and Ankle.

Ryan became interested in caring for patients as a Physician Assistant with the goal of extending the hands of physicians and providing care in underserved areas. His passion for sports as an NCAA athlete and Olympic hopeful made sports medicine a natural fit. In 2011, he was introduced to skilled nursing wound care and felt a unique calling to provide specialty care in an often underserved area. The love for this work and increasing demand sparked the idea of starting United Wound Healing, and eventually his role as CEO led to full-time leadership and administration. He still volunteers at several local high schools providing sports medicine coverage. Ryan’s interests include spending time with his wife and their twin sons, physical fitness, and exercise. He also enjoys spending time in the outdoors, hiking, and fly fishing.

John Evans, DPM, FACFAS, DABFAS received his DPM from the Temple University College of Podiatric Medicine and has a BS in Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut. He is board-certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (Foot and Ankle) and is Chief of Podiatry at Corewell Health (Beaumont) Medical Center in Dearborn, Michigan. He has served as Chair of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) Health Policy and Practice Committee and as a Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee (CAC) representative for over 20 years and was the 2018 recipient of the APMA Award of Excellence. He served as the Podiatric representative to the PAD Guidelines Writing Committee of the American Heart Assn. and American College of Cardiology which were published in 2024 and serves as the Podiatric representative of APMA to the AHA PVD Council. He is active with the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, having served on multiple committees including their Board of Directors for eight years, and is the immediate Past-Chair of their Communications Committee. He is active with the American Limb Preservation Society on the Health Equity and Advocacy Committee as Co-Chair of the Research and Data Analysis Sub-Committee, the CLI Global Society, and as faculty for the New Cardiovascular Horizons organization. Dr Evans is a nationally recognized speaker on a variety of topics including Peripheral Arterial Disease, the Diabetic Foot, Limb Salvage and Preservation, Physician Burnout, Dealing with the Difficult Patient, and Mindfulness in Medicine. r. Robert G Frykberg, DPM, MPH, MAPWCA, FRSM, FFPM (Glasg), is a graduate of the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1976. Dr Frykberg went on to complete his residency training at the New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He served as the President of the Massachusetts Podiatric Medical Society and a Member of the Board of Registration in Podiatry. From 1992 to 1994, he attended the Harvard School of Public Health and graduated with a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in quantitative methods. After 21 years of private practice, Dr Frykberg accepted the position as Clinical Dean of the Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery prior to moving to Phoenix. After 15 years of dedicated service to our Veterans, Dr Frykberg has decided to retire from his role as Chief of Podiatry at the Phoenix VA Medical Center and as Director of the Phoenix VA Medical Center Podiatric Residency Program. He continues to hold the academic rank of Professor, University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix and Adjunct Professor, Midwestern University Program in Podiatric Medicine. His research and writing interests have included all facets of lower extremity disorders, but are specifically focused on diabetic foot ulcers, infections, Charcot foot, and wound care. The author of nearly 100 peer-reviewed publications, he has also been the Editor of two textbooks: The High-Risk Foot in Diabetes Mellitus (1991) and the Diabetic Charcot Foot (2010). His expertise in the Diabetic Foot translated into hundreds of speaking invitations nationally and internationally with numerous lecture engagements in China, India, Russia, South America, the UK, Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia, Italy, and across Europe.

Matthew G Garoufalis, DPM, FASPS, FACPM, CWS, FFPM RCPS (Glasg), FRSM, graduated from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio with degrees in Biology and Economics and went on to graduate from the Dr Wm M Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr Garoufalis is a past president of the Illinois Podiatric Medical Association, a Past President of the American Podiatric Medical Association, and is the Immediate Past President of the International Federation of Podiatrists. Dr Garoufalis is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and American Board of Podiatric Medicine with Added Qualification in Wound Care and Limb Preservation. He is a noted authored of many articles and, as an invited speaker, has accepted speaking engagements for educational lectures, seminars, and workshops, both nationally and internationally, on a variety of topics pertinent to wound care, podiatric medicine and surgery, and practice management. Samantha Landau, DPM, MPH, FFPM RCPS (Glasg) is a faculty member at NYCPM in the Department of Orthopedics and Pediatrics. She graduated from SUNY College at Geneseo in 2013 with a BS in Business Administration, and with minors in both biology and chemistry. Enrolled in the dual-degree program of NYCPM and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt Sinai, she obtained her MPH (with an emphasis on healthcare management) in 2016, after only two years, the first student to do so in the history of the program. She obtained her DPM degree in 2018. Dr Landau completed her residency at NYCPM/Metropolitan in 2021 as chief resident. COVID intervened while she was at Metro, and for her efforts there, she received Schneps Media’s Health Care Hero Award. (Schneps is a major New York-based publisher of digital and physical media, especially of community newspapers.) She also has Standard Ankle Surgery privilege in New York and is Board Certified by ABPM. Dr Landau has many publications including some being deemed original research. With an interest in surgical biomechanics, Dr Landau completed a fellowship in “Post-Graduate Fellowship Training in Biomechanics and Gait-Related Disorders of the Lower Extremity in Children and Adults" at NYCPM. During her training she spent time at the Hospital for Special Surgery in the Leon Root Motion Analysis Lab, with both Drs Joseph C. D’Amico and Cusack, and in pediatric podiatry by Drs Volpe and Resseque. Dr Landau loves taking biomechanical concepts and incorporating them into surgical applications. Dr Landau is also on the executive board for NYSPMA King Division. NYSPMA is the top organization in New York State that represents the interests of podiatrists with the state legislature as well as with insurance companies.

Harold Schoenhaus, DPM, FACFAS is a board-certified foot, rearfoot, and reconstructive ankle surgeon by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is a past president and current fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He holds staff appointments and operating privileges at the University of Pennsylvania Presbyterian Hospital and Chestnut Hill hospital. Dr Schoenhaus' research and clinical interests are in biomechanics, pathomechanics and reconstructive surgery, including joint replacement surgery and pediatric podiatric surgery. Moreover, Dr Schoenhaus is the surgical editor for PRESENT e-Learning Systems, an online medical education and networking resource dedicated to improving the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals throughout the world. He is a nationally recognized lecturer and pioneer in the field of lower extremity pathomechanics and reconstructive surgery. Thomas E Serena, MD, FACS, FACHM, MAPWCA, CEO and Medical Director of The SerenaGroup, a family of the wound, hyperbaric and research companies, is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The College of William and Mary and Penn State Medical School. He completed his residency in Surgery at The Milton S Hershey Medical Center with an additional year of training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Southern Illinois University. To date, he has opened and operates wound care centers across the United States and globally. Dr Serena has been the lead or Principal investigator in over 100 clinical trials, including gene therapy for critical limb ischemia, antimicrobial dressings, growth factors, topical and parenteral antibiotics, and CTP therapy. He founded the first wound healing cooperative research group that produced more than 12 manuscripts in 2016 alone. In 2011 he developed a diagnostic technique that now bears his name (The Serena Technique). He holds numerous patents on wound care devices and dressings. He is recognized internationally as an expert in the field of wound healing: He has more than 200 published papers and has given more than 1000 invited lectures throughout the world. He has published three medical textbooks and authored numerous book chapters. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Wound Healing Society and served two terms on the board of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC) and is now the President. He has also been Vice-President of the American College of Hyperbaric Medicine and President of the American Professional Wound Care Association.

Jarrod Shapiro, DPM, FACFAS, FACPM is a Board-Certified podiatric foot and ankle physician and surgeon who has been in practice for almost 20 years. He is also a fellow with the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the American College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr Shapiro has taught at Western University for the past 13 years and is a full professor and associate dean of clinical affairs. He is the residency program director at the Chino Valley Medical Center PMSR/RRA program in Chino, California. Dr Shapiro's training includes a 3-year foot and ankle residency at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan after graduating from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, CA in 2003. Reem Sheikh, DPM, DABPM, DABFAS currently serves as assistant professor in the department of surgery at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr Sheikh is a graduate of Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery and completed her residency training at NYCPM/Metropolitan Hospital Center (PMSR-RRA). She served as chief resident during her last year. Dr Sheikh is passionate about teaching and training residents. She is published in peer-reviewed journals and is currently involved in an IRB approved clinical study evaluating changes to thickness of plantar fascia after laser treatment for heel pain. Dr Sheikh devotes her personal time to her family and her hobbies, which include traveling, photography, and painting. She also calls the great state of Alaska home.

Laura Shin, DPM, PhD, is a reconstructive surgeon and physician-scientist who specializes in podiatry, including foot and ankle deformities, Charcot neuroarthropathy, limb salvage, wound care and diabetic feet and ankles. Her interest in stem cell biology and the potential for using stem cells to repair diabetic wounds, along with her passion for patient care, led her to pursue a dual PhD and DPM degree. In her clinical and research pursuits, Dr Shin is dedicated to preserving and restoring mobility, which she believes is crucial to quality of life. She has a special interest in patients with diabetes and other high-risk conditions. Her research focuses on stem cell regeneration and the body's capacity for healing. In particular, she is examining tissue and stem cell repair in older adults, people with diabetes and people whose immune systems are compromised.

Robert Smith, DPM, MSc, RPh, SrFNAP, received his BS degree in Pharmacy from the University of Florida in 1983. He then received his DPM degree from the College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Des Moines University in 1999. He completed a PPMR at Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in Sacaton, AZ in 2000. Dr Smith obtained his certification in Pedorthics from BCP in 2001. He completed postgraduate training with the College of Medicine at the University of Wales, Cardiff, Wales, and UK in wound care and tissue repair. He received his Master of Science degree from the College of Medicine at the University of Wales, UK in 2006. Dr Smith’s research centers on Infection Prevalence, Infection Control and Wound Care. He is a consultant to the National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners. He is a contributing editor and reviewer to JAPMA in the areas of Podiatric Clinical Pharmacology. He has authored over 100 refereed journal articles for the disciplines of Pharmacy, Podiatry, and Wound Care. He has lectured for APMA, FPMA, IPMS, and PFA. He has operated his sole practice: “Shoe Sting Podiatry”. He is the Founder and President of Studying Opioid Harm, Inc a non-profit educational company to build and develop tools to educate and mitigate the harm from opioids. Dr Smith is the chairman of the Podiatric Academy for the National Academy of Practice since 2020.

Michael Troiano, DPM, FACFAS is a 2004 graduate Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. He completed residency at the Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is in private practice at the Center for Foot and Ankle Disorders in Philadelphia. He is Adjunct Clinical Professor at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in the Department of Surgery, he teaches Biomechanics, and MRI reading. Dr Troiano is a board certified in foot, rear foot, and reconstructive ankle surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Marie Williams, DPM, DABPS, DHLS, is board certified in foot and ankle surgery and a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr Williams was the first clinical dean at Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine and is currently an Adjunct Professor for the school. Dr Williams has been in private practice since 1984. She is currently the Chairman of the Department of Podiatry at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center. She has been involved in residency training since 1986 and a Program Director in Podiatric Surgery and Medicine since 1988. Dr Williams is a speaker in the field of foot and ankle surgery as well as limb salvage. She has published several articles on the healing of complex wounds and limb salvage, while also authoring a chapter: Bone Infections in "Foot and Ankle Radiology". In August 2014, Dr Williams was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts along with her teammates from Immaculata College. Their team, the Mighty Macs, captured three consecutive Championships. They were considered trailblazers for women sports, and in the 70s they help bring about Title 9 and equality for women in sports. In June 2015 they received the trailblazer award in the women’s basketball hall of fame. Dr Williams was recently requested to be a Keynote Speaker for Immaculata University and received the Doctor of Humane Letters for her humanitarian efforts in May 2018.

Jacob Wynes, DPM, MS, FACFAS grew up in Baltimore, MD where he had been mentored by many outstanding podiatric surgeons. He later went on to graduate from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine and continued on to complete a 4-year residency at the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Dr Wynes then pursued an additional year of training as a clinical fellow at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics, International Center for Limb Lengthening with a focus on foot and ankle deformity correction. At this time, Dr Wynes works at the University of Maryland School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor within the Department of Orthopaedics. Dr Wynes currently treats patients at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Dr Wynes remains active in patient care, surgery, and research. He is the co-director of the UMMC Limb Preservation Clinic, fellowship program director for the UMSOM Limb Deformity Fellowship, and site director for the Baltimore VA and Medstar Health residency programs.
